David Perren, CPA

Partner

As a founding Partner of Barkin, Perren, Schwager & Dolan, LLP, in 1981, along with Bert Barkin, who passed away in 1992, David Perren has extensive experience with many diversified businesses and now specializes in the entertainment industry. In addition to business management, David works closely with clients in the estate planning arena, focusing on tax, estate, gifts and trusts.

Originally, David wanted to be an electrical engineer. But his father suggested that he focus on a business education during undergrad and then study electrical engineering in graduate school. “I fell in love with accounting and just stayed with it. I like solving puzzles and have always felt that the accounting profession was real puzzle solving.”

Over the years, David has committed himself to many non-profit and charitable organizations. With the help of his clients and colleagues, he has led firm fundraising activities for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society – Southern California Chapter, of which he is a past board member and served three years as chairman of the board. David was inducted into the National MS Society Fundraising Hall of Fame in 2002 and is a recipient of the Norman Cohn Hope Award, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s most prestigious award.

David has been a member of Temple Ramat Zion in Northridge for nearly 50 years and has served on the board for many of those years, including two as temple president. For their untiring dedication, he and his wife, Nancy, have been recognized with several honors and awards.

David enjoys playing doubles tennis at least three times a week. As avid baseball fans, he and Nancy have attended a baseball game in each of the 30 major league stadiums. He has plans to resume his coin collecting hobby and is “looking forward to watching my 12 grandchildren grow, mature and be happy and successful.”
